Barker Animal Hospital staff is exceptional! When we took our cat Sophia there a few years ago, Dr. Barker was able to calm her down in 2 minutes! Sophia fought us for a good hour prior to the appointment. Dr. Barker was the one who helped us when our pit mix Maggie had to go to sleep due to cancer. Today, we brought our newly adopted pit mix for check up. Dr. Shields was very thorough and helpful. The vet assistants were very patient, friendly, and caring. I highly recommend this place for your pets. The staff really shows compassion and kindness to pets and their humans.
This place was incredible! I don’t understand all the reviews saying they were pressured into buying plans and medication cause that was the exact opposite from my experience.
I have used Banfield in the past and that was a nightmare . Never any staff or doctors available could never get my dog in for weeks . This time my dog had really bad hives and of course no where in the southern Virginia area had any available appointments for weeks not even urgent care . I called here and they were able to take my dog same day. The 2 receptionists were so nice and professional. We had a drop off and the vet was amazing , obviously after Christmas we were kind of broke and they gave us recommendations on which meds would be the most beneficial for us to get . So helpful with everything , didn’t feel pushy and took our time explaining everything to us . My dog is already feeling better . I’m so thankful for them and will 1 million percent be coming back .
Took my dog Ginny to this hospital because she broke out with hives and we had no idea what happened or what to do. The staff were super helpful, friendly, and professional and even offered me a military discount, which I wasn’t expecting. I definitely will be returning in the future!
I have been coming here Spence they opened and now they have a shift in client appreciation. I received a reminder for a time to be here for three dogs. I was intime for the appointment, but they said I was late. Then they are going to charge me 50 dollars per a dog, for the wrong reminder message that was sent to me. Megan the office manager needs a lot of help in customer care. Because by my experience she has none, very cold.
Brought my cat in because she was throwing up a lot. I was pressured into buying a health plan and getting bloodwork, extra shots done etc. All that my cat needed was some antacid tablets and none of the other stuff was even necessary. Now I've had to pay about $300 for tests that weren't necessary. A good doctor should start with the more simple potential solution and then move on to extensive testing instead of pressuring people into plans that they don't really need.
I was 10 min late and they charge $50 that's for sure. while you wait in the lobby probably those ten minutes just to get the room. 15-20 min by yourself inside the room just waiting. don't even say you can leave now just alright your done and dipped. like good day mf. next time.! I have a mf subscription here let's all learn from this. mf 50 charge if your late 50 charge if you don't come at all. yall are the goats I tell yah
Great staff! Dr. Nelson and Ashley were so wonderful with handling our little girl (and she is a tough cookie sometimes). Would 100% recommend them, very communicative and patient. No fear technique for handling animals is a huge asset!
Wow! What a fantastic experience! New client and a rescue puppy that is a bit concerned about anything new. They all took it slow and gentle with him. Highly recommend!
